~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An Abbreviated Doc for Lights Out! -------------------------
Lights Out! is a small program, created for the
purposes of 1] Preventing Screen burn-in, 2] Simultaneously
parking the hard disk.
Format: Lo [option]
Option: None For normal operation
/. This will only park the hard disk.
Suitable for use just before powering
down.
/? Shows a brief help screen.
/xx Specify xx seconds [1-60] between window
jumps. Default is 5 seconds.
/c Park the hard disk, and blank the screen.
This suppresses the jumping window.
Use: When the screen saver is active, a window,
displaying the time will flash around the screen. This
prevents screen burn-in. The hard disk is parked, when the
program is invoked. Pressing any key, during execution, will
cause Lights Out! to exit, restoring the screen prior to
start up. The hard disk will be unparked by any further disk
operation.
Note, that if more than one hard disk is present,
then only the first hard disk in the system will be parked.
New features from v1.0
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The "seconds" display in the window has been removed. I
judged it to be distracting, however, should there be a
demand for it's restoration, then I will return it in future
versions.
There were bug complaints, that in certain systems, the
cursor was not returned after program execution. This has
been fixed, and there should be no problem. Caveat: On
monochrome monitors, there is a slight chance that there
will be display problems -- use the /c mode [read on]. Until
the next version ... sorry!
The /xx mode allows you to set a seconds value between
1 & 60 seconds. The window will wait that long before
jumping to a new position. The default is 5 seconds.
The /c mode is added for:
a] those who find the jumping window distracting,
and/or b] there is flicker when the window jumps,
and/or c] the program works incorrectly with monochrome
monitors.
Dedication: This program is dedicated to the public domain.
~~~~~~~~~~ It can be freely copied and used, at any
location.
Status : Version 1.1 No known bugs.
